Kicking off our street style section is Reggie Belmonte, the new Editor-in-chief of the Philippine Star’s YStyle section, spotted at Bonifacio High Street wearing, well, spots. The blogger and Cosmo’s Beauty Editor-at-large chatted with B/BLOG about superheroes and style resolutions.
B: Where are you headed?
R: I’m heading to Comic Odyssey. It’s not really a secret that I’m a huge geek. I have no self-control where superheroes are involved!
Tell us about your outfit!
I spotted this sweater in the shop and had to have it. It’s comfortable, it’s cute, and it’s practical. Perfect for the borderline Arctic environs of the office, but not so hot that I’d be sweating were I to go out after work to someplace warmer. Normally I’d wear shorts, but since I have work, I had to dress a little more conservatively in these faux leather pants from H&M. Crazy high heels have always been my thing—the higher the heels, the closer to God, they say. I threw on a necklace from OS Accessories for a little sparkle. I love that it’s so pretty from afar, then up close, you realize it’s a badass metal spine. I’m a rock chick; always have been, always will be.
Do you have any style resolutions for 2014?
I’m going to try to stop drowning myself in my clothes. I must confess I’ve always liked to keep it loose, flowy, and simple because my body type just isn’t meant for all the fun trends I would have liked to try, but this year, I’m going to own it. I’m not giving up the black, though. I can’t!
What about YStyle resolutions?
What I really want to do is discover and push new talent. There are so many brilliant young artists, stylists, photographers, and models out there who have so much to offer and just need a break. I want us to be the ones to give it to them. My inbox is always open, e-mail me your portfolios at email@example.com!
