Sel Guevara, @selguev

What’s a typical day like for you?

A typical day for me is to wake up at six in the morning, eat my breakfast, and then I’m off to the gym. I work out all the time ’til nine. I do a minimum of four to six days a week of training. And then I start work, either for sports coverage or for my fitness business around brunch time. So that’s a normal day for me.

What’s your favorite workout?

My favorite workout would be always, always, always leg day. I start with a plyometric workout, which is something that will get your heart pumping, and I like to do squats, and anything that has to do with the booty. You know on Instagram that the booty is where you get the money. So yeah, I love, love, love booty workouts. Booty and ab workouts are the best for me, because when you do leg workouts, it’s like you’re working out every part of your body, not just your legs. ‘Cause it’s the biggest muscle in the body.

Who’s your biggest fitspo?

This might sound so self-centered, but I think my biggest fitspo is me. ‘Cause I think that’s the best fitspiration that you could ever have, is the you now, compared to how far you’ve gone from before.

And when you see the comparison, it drives you even more.

Exactly. I take a lot of progress pictures, wherein I encourage all my clients to do so, or anybody I just talk fitness with. That’s when you realize that, “Oh my God, I am my own fitspiration.”

What’s your guiltiest pleasure right now?

Every weekend, on a Saturday, I eat whatever I want for four hours. Always. I reward myself all the time. Although my diet’s not so strict, it’s just really clean with mindful eating. But during the weekend, on that particular time on a Saturday, which is a Saturday dinner, I eat straight-up whatever I want, be it ice cream, pizza, burritos, all the pork — because I don’t eat pork on a normal day — anything with oil, all the sweets, cake.

Yum.

Masarap talaga. You know, fitness is not really all about depriving yourself, it’s really just knowing the timing of everything. So when you’re able to figure that out, you’re good to go.

Mara Lopez, @maralopezy

What do you do?

I’m an actress and athlete (surfer and jiu jitsu)

What does a typical day look like for you?

A typical day when I’m not working is… I wake up at 4:30 a.m. and surf first thing in the morning. And then I eat, rest, and surf again before sunset [Laughs]. When I’m in the city, Jiu jitsu is my surfing.

Which part of your body is your favorite?

I’ve never really thought about it, but I really like my hair [Laughs].

How do you feel about being called a thirst trap?

Wow I had to google what that means [Laughs]. It’s not at all offensive to me. I post photos I’m comfortable with especially when I’m traveling or surfing. And a lot of vegan food [Laughs]. I like sharing my lifestyle on social media to encourage people to get out of their comfort zone and try something new — jiu jitsu, surfing, the active lifestyle — it would be nice though if everyone was “thirsty” for those things instead.

Who is the ultimate thirst trap for you?

I have a big crush on Charlie Heaton — Jonathan Byers of Stranger Things — ever since I met him in the San Sebastián film festival [Laughs]. I wouldn’t say he is a thirst trap but since I have a crush on him, then I guess he is my “thirst trap”.

What’s the secret to a really good selfie?

Anything that tells a story is good for me.

What is sexy for you?

Someone smart is very sexy [Wink].

Dan Quiaoit, @danquiaoit

Tell us about yourself and what you do.

I’m an engineer, and I deal with post-construction. I’m there to enforce the defects and liabilities period for the condo units that are sold.

What’s a typical day like for you?

I wake up at around 5:30 a.m., cook breakfast — sometimes — and drive to work and get there at around 7:30.

What’s your workout routine like?

Since I’m pressed for time and I always need to get up early, I focus on compound lifts like bench press, pull-ups, deadlifts. And I just do 5x5s, five sets of five reps, and then I just try to lift as heavy as I can. I don’t really train much of abs. Sometimes I do cardio, twice a week. ‘Cause I do a lot of walking for my job, so that’s pretty much the cardio I need. So I just lift heavy during workout sessions.

What’s your favorite body part to workout?

I love doing pull-ups. I think I can strap on 70 pounds and still do pull-ups, so that’s one of the things I like doing. And also the bench press of course, I really like training my chest.

What got you into fitness?

I just stumbled upon it. I was a basketball player in high school, and I didn’t know what do after so I started lifting weights. It was fun, and it also keeps me healthy. More muscle mass equals less fat.

Who’s your biggest fitspiration?

Christian Guzman, he’s a YouTuber. When I watch his videos, I wanna emulate the guy. He has a lot of businesses and he looks good also.

What’s your guilty pleasure right now?

Fast food [Laughs]. ‘Cause I wanna bulk. That’s always my excuse.

What’s your favorite fast food?

Double cheeseburger, large fries, large drink [Laughs].

Gianluca Gardini, @ciaogianluca

How does your typical day look like?

A typical day looks like football, studies, and then gym as well, every single day. That’s basically it. Football in the afternoon after classes, and then when I get home, I go to the gym right away.

What’s your workout routine and diet like?

I don’t eat that much carbs during the day and I do intermittent fasting. My workout is basically push, pull, leg. That’s Monday, back and biceps; Tuesday which is push, that’s chest, triceps, and shoulders. Then legs. I put abs in between.

How many times do workout in a week?

Every single day.

You’re doing intermittent fasting. What’s that like?

Intermittent fasting is basically fasting for a period of time. From the last time you ate in the evening, you fast for 16 or 14 hours. 12 to 18 hours actually. And then from there, for example I [started fasting] at 9 o’clock, I count 14 hours, after 14 hours you can eat until 9 o’clock again in the evening.

What’s your favorite body part to workout?

Shoulders and abs.

Do you switch up your workouts a lot or is it a very consistent routine?

I switch it up. For example, first week it’s the push-pull and legs, and then the second week it’s back and chest together, and then arms and legs. I switch it up every week. But I do cardio every day.

So you still do cardio on top of your football?

Yeah. After football, I still go on the StairMaster.

What got you into fitness?

I was really fat before, but I was always a football player. It’s really my sport. I’m a goal keeper, so I don’t do much running. I have this problem with my ankle that made me walk weird before, so I use that as a motivation because people used to tease me about that too. I use it as a strength, like what can I do to make myself better. So I started dieting and working out, and then when I saw results, I used it as motivation as well.

What’s your guiltiest pleasure right now?

Cheesecake all the way.

Mike Lavarez, @mikelavarez

What do you do?

I’m an Art Director for Metrophoto, a wedding based Photography company. I’m also a resident DJ at Nectar Nightclub & Jungle Circuit Events. On the side I direct videos for various platforms.

What does a typical day look like for you?

When I’m not out directing shoots I gather new music, curate playlists for gigs, engage new clients. And eat — a lot.

What’s your workout routine like?

Lifting weights & cardio — 4 times a week. I’ve tried various workouts but I find these two the most practical for my lifestyle. My favorite routines are the ones for the chest & biceps.

Which part of your body is your favorite?

My shoulders because they’re naturally broad. Also, I have three moles across my chest that seem to resemble the Orions belt [Laughs].

How do you feel about being called a thirst trap?

It’s funny because I’m naturally an introvert. I usually work behind the camera so I’m not used to the attention. Also, I try to make sure that I only post half-naked photos where there’s a body of water [Laughs]

Who is the ultimate thirst trap for you?

Is Dua Lipa a valid thirst trap? She’s totally hot anyway.

What’s the secret to a really good selfie?

Know your profile angle & always turn your body towards the light source. A quick trick for a thinner face is to never face the camera directly. Taking photos from a higher angle also makes the face appear more slender. For a better smile lift your cheeks & not the edges of your lips. Lastly, a good tip from the photographer boyfriend is never stop until you are 100% satisfied — you are your own client [Laughs].

What is sexy for you?

Sense of humor. And white briefs.

Ria de Luna, @ria.deluna

What’s a typical day like for you?

Well, I do workout first before I start my day. I drink a big, one liter of water before I wake up so it gets me going during the day. I usually add chia seeds to it, so it kind of expands my stomach so I’m kinda full and I don’t have to eat anything heavy before a workout. I usually do cardio, simple running. I basically focus on my legs, because I really like to have thick thighs and a nice booty. I focus on squats and cardio.

What got you into fitness?

I used to be so lazy before, and just used to eat what I want. I still eat what I want, but when you grow older, your metabolism slows down, and especially living here in the Philippines — I used to live in Canada — the food is a little greasier, so it made me wanna workout even more. I do pilates and yoga, that’s my main thing.

What’s your favorite workout?

I think pilates. Just leg exercises, it’s not too straining. It feels like I’m not doing anything, but then I feel the pain after I workout. I like things that don’t require too much lifting, or heavy weights, but you feel the burn after with simple stretches.

Who’s your biggest fitspiration?

Tammy Hembrow. She’s a mom, and she’s a young mom, she like 21. She has two kids but she’s super fit even after having two kids. She has abs and a super nice physique. She motivates me because, how can you do that? Like be a mom and right away she’s so fit and has muscles. And I dunno, I kinda like the Kardashians’ bodies — I know it’s… basic, but they do workout a lot.

What’s your guilty pleasure?

I love Filipino food. I just came from Pampanga recently, so I had laing and sinigang. But really, tacos and pizza, that’s my guilty pleasure.
